PCTV iPod and DVD recording Off Screen - how to watch PCTV programmes on your TV or mp3 player
Recording your favourite shows with PCTV is easy enough. However, you won't always want to watch then on your computer. Luckily, you don't have to. It's easy to record your programmes to DVD for watching on your TV, and if you've got a video Apple® iPod® or similar mp3 player, you can record them for that too!
The secret tool here is the TV Centre Settings button - at the top left of your TV screen. Open it up and choose capture settings. Here you'll be able to decide on the format and quality of video you want to record. MP3 players -different formats
Different mp3 players will play different formats, so you may have to experiment a little, but most are comfortable with the mp4 format. Select the mp4 format from the video format section of the Capture tab.
Underneath this, the Video Quality selector allows you to pick iPod or Sony™ PSP® settings. If your mp3 player isn't an iPod or a PSP, the chances are it will work well with the "IPOD High" setting. If that doesn't work, try picking DIVX from the Video format menu and Handheld from the Video Quality selector.
Anything you now record will be in a format compatible with your portable player.
Note: if you can't see the mp4 format, it might need to be installed. Go to the Information tab and select "Sony PSP/Apple iPod" and click Activate.DVD recording
You can record from PCTV Pro direct to a DVD. Simply place a blank DVD in your DVD drive, and when you set up your recording with the Electronic Programme Guide (EPG), go to the Scheduled recordings tab, choose the recording, pick Edit and Choose DVD from the destination selector.
In the format menu, you can pick the quality of your DVD recording. If you need to get a long recording, or a lot of recordings (more than a single film) on one DVD, choose Long Play. Otherwise, stick with DVD or DVD Best as these settings give a higher quality recording.
Note: DVD and iPod recordings are only available in TVCentre Pro. If you've got the standard version, you'll need to create your DVDs or iPod videos using another package (Pinnacle Studio will do the job quickly and easily).
You might also want to use Studio if you've got video clips you've already recorded that you want to transfer to iPod or DVD formats. The following PCTV products do not support converting to MPEG-4 file-format for iPod and PSP as standard: PCTV Analog PCI(50i), PCTV Analog USB(55e), PCTV Hybrid ExpressCard(320cX), PCTV DVB-T Flash Stick(280e), PCTV DVB-T PCI(250i), PCTV DVB-T Stick Solo(72e), PCTV DVB-T Stick(72e), PCTV DVB-T Stick Ultimate (72e), PCTV nanoStick(73e), PCTV Tuner Kit for Windows Vista(110iV), PCTV Hybrid Tuner Kit for Windows Vista(330eV).
